About Us
About Plain Talk Financial Planning
Plain Talk Financial Planning (PTFP) is an Investment Adviser principally located in the state of Massachusetts. We act in a fiduciary capacity for our clients, meaning we always put the needs of the client above all else.
We are a fee-only firm, meaning the only compensation we receive is from our clients for our services. PTFP does not accept compensation for the sale of securities or other investment products including asset-based sales charges or service fees from the sale of mutual funds.
Our Approach
Understanding the unique needs of each client lies at the heart of our approach. We strive to be a trusted partner, using our expertise to help guide clients with their financial decision-making.
You Deserve an Evidence-Based Philosophy
Decisions are driven entirely by evidence, research, and humility — not emotions nor speculation.
Portfolios are designed to focus on maximizing diversification, low fees, and limiting tax friction. In doing so, we lean on empirical insights to provide more reliable investor outcomes as we plan your future together.
You Deserve Radical Candor
Families don't hire PTFP to say the right things. They hire us to improve their expected outcomes.
The markets are noisy. Your financial plan, investments, and tax strategies must be thoughtfully integrated to effectively engineer success.
You're hiring us both as an architect and artist for your family — to design and harmonize the various factors of your financial life.
You Deserve Transparency & Fair Fees
Investors need to know what they are paying, both to advisors and to the funds that an advisor may select for clients. Fees are a critical input to your expected outcomes, and we make ours transparent and fair.
PTFP is a fee-only RIA. We do not receive commissions and are not compensated for placing you in any specific funds or strategies.
PTFP offers multiple, client-friendly options for advisory fees.
You Deserve to be an Investor
No matter who you are
Investing isn't only for the wealthy. That's why we don't have minimum account requirements.
We have a “30 minutes for anyone” policy — if someone is referred to the firm but doesn't want to be a client, or isn't a good fit, we will still try to leave them in a better place than before we met.
Please do not refer to us as a wealth management firm. We are a wealth management and wealth creation firm, and do not want anyone to be deterred from reaching out for help achieving their financial goals.
